Bears torch Flomaton, fall to McIntosh, Bayside

      The Leroy Bears were on fire against the Flomaton Hurricane Friday, Jan. 11, winning 71-56 but saw their offense fizzle in losses to McIntosh and Bayside to send the Bears' record to 4-8 on the season. Leroy traveled to McIntosh Tuesday, Jan. 9, and lost a 61-60 heartbreaker to the Demons.

JA boys, girls fall on the road to Wilcox Academy

      The Jackson Academy Eagles' boys and girls varsity basketball teams were swept Tuesday, Jan. 8 at Wilcox Academy. The Eagles boys fell 47-29 after leading 21-15 at intermission. Wesley Harris led the team in scoring with eight points.

Williams commits to Duke

      Leroy High School senior wide receiver Johnny Williams committed to Duke University on an official visit to the school over the weekend. Williams becomes the first verbal commitment for new Duke coach David Cutcliffe, who was previously the offensive coordinator for Tennessee.
