John Turner Harrison Jr.

John Turner Harrison Jr., a native and resident of Jackson, died at the age of 76, Jan. 13, 2008, at the Jackson Medical Center. He was an automobile salesman with Pearce Motor Company for more than 35 years before becoming owner/agent with Harrison & Harrison Insurance & Realty with his son, Shawn H. Harrison. A past member of the Cattlemen's Association and the VFW, an avid horseman, cattleman and hunter, he was a S/SGT with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Harrison was preceded in death by his brother, Z. Trice Harrison.

Survivors include his wife, Faye Chastain Harrison of Jackson; a son, Shawn H. (Alicia) Harrison of Jackson; one daughter, Suzzane H. (Tom) Noble of Jackson; a sister, Betty H. Hall of Jackson; brother, Ted P. Harrison of Brundidge; and four grandchildren, Turner F. Harrison, Hylan E. Noble and Payti I. Harrison, all of Jackson and Haley S. Noble of Nashville, Tenn.

Funeral services were Jan. 15 at the First Baptist Church in Jackson with interment at the Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson under the direction of Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson.

Pallbearers were Tim Harrison, Chess Bowerman, Scottie Chastain, Steve Harrison, David Harrison and Johnny Harrison, all nephews of Mr. Harrison, and Clint O'Guynn and Wayne Ramey.

Billie Jean Powell

Billie Jean Powell, a native and resident of Grove Hill, died at the age of 67 in a Mobile hospital Jan. 10, 2008. She was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Fulton.

Survivors include two brothers, Clinton Powell and Ralph Powell, both of Grove Hill; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Jan. 12 in the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home in Grove Hill with the Rev. Don White officiating. Interment was in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.

Hannah Lynn White

Hannah Lynn Pope White, a native of Climax, Ga. and resident of Coffeeville, died Jan. 8, 2008 at a local health care facility at 90 years of age. She was a homemaker and a member of the Coffeeville United Methodist Church. Her husband, Frank Earl White Jr., son Bruce A Martin and sister Annette Wheeler preceded her in death.

She is survived by a son, Frank Earl "Happy" (Ann) White III of Jackson; two daughters, Trudi Allen (Rodger) Anders of Northport and Anne W. (Doug) Latham of Coffeeville; daughter-in-law, Judy McNeil Martin of Pensacola, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Jan. 10 at the Coffeeville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sandylee Rose officiating. Interment was in the White Family Cemetery in West Bend with Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directing.

Pallbearers were Scott Allen, Scott Coleman, Ashley Coleman, Charlie Latham, Jesse Latham, David Martin, Rob Ryser and Shaw White.

Cedric Llewllyn Blanks

Cedric Llewllyn Blanks, 37, died Jan. 11, 2008. He was a 1989 graduate of Jackson High School. He was preceded in death by Kimberly Shanae Blanks.

Survivors include his mother, Jacqueline Blanks of Jackson; his father, Mack Washington of New York City; a sister, Bermeta (Devon) Parker of Jackson; and his grandmother, Abbie Blanks of Jackson.

Services are Friday, Jan. 18, with viewing at 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at noon in the chapel of Jackson Memorial Funeral Home in Jackson. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Jackson.

Addie Scott

Addie Scott, 90, of Jackson died Jan. 10, 2008 at her residence. She was a former member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church No. 1 of Jackson where she served on the usher board. Presently, she was a member of Freewill Family Pentecostal Church of Grove Hill.

She is survived by five daughters, Gadia Washington and Eula Ezell, both of Jackson, Linder Nero of New York, N.Y., Odessa Martin and Charliestine Manning, both of Chicago, Ill.; 32 grandchildren, a host of Great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday, Jan 18, 6-8 p.m. in the chapel of Jackson Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 19, 11 a.m. at the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church No. 1 in Jackson with interment in the church cemetery.

Louise Allen Rice

Louise Allen Rice, 83, died at a local health care facility Jan. 10, 2008. She was a native and resident of St. Stephens and a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Stephens. During her lifetime she was employed at the Mobile Shipyard during war-time, Vanity Fair, Everette's Nursery and was the owner of a café and small grocery store in St. Stephens. Her favorite job was taking care of the flowers surrounding her home. She raised and sold vegetables for many years.

Survivors include two brothers, Johnny Ray (Janice) Goldman and Willie Earl Goldman, both of St. Stephens; a sister, Ethel Everette of Leroy; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were Jan. 12 at the First Baptist Church of St. Stephens with interment in the Rockville Baptist Cemetery in Rockville. Bro. Gary Patrick and Bro. David Albritton officiated with St. Stephens Funeral Home of St. Stephens directing.
