Literacy coalition members receive training

On Dec. 11, 2007 the newly-formed Literacy Coalition of Clarke County, a division of the Clarke County Development Foundation, volunteers received adult literacy training from Goodwill Easter Seals of the Gulf Coast at the White Smith Memorial Library in Jackson. The White Smith Memorial Library and the city of Jackson began this movement in August with a series of meetings for county citizens on the state of literacy under the direction of the Literacy Coalition of South Alabama. Additional tutor trainings will be ongoing. Participating (front, L-R) were Bebe Garrett and Denise Flowers; (back, L-R) are Donna Nelson, Terri Flowers, Janiece Parker, Martha Ann McNeil, Candis Busby and Lydia Gaudet (trainer). Those interested in participating in improving adult literacy, workforce literacy, and ESL may do so by contacting Terri Flowers or Debra Grayson at the White Smith Memorial Library at 246-4962.
