Pine City Ambassadors attend economic development workshop

The Pine City Ambassadors attended an Economic Development workshop on Thursday, Jan. 10 at Boise's Training Center. Guest speakers included Mayor Richard Long and Debra Bolen, Clarke County Economic Development Partnership's executive director. The objective of the meeting was to define economic development and to discuss the process of organizing their communities for economic development on a local level. The Pine City Ambassador junior leadership program is a nine month program sponsored by the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce. It includes participants from Jackson High School, Jackson Academy and Leroy High School. It is designed to develop youth leadership skills that will enable the students to work and serve their communities collaboratively. After successful completion of the program, the ambassadors are awarded a scholarship to be used for their college tuition. "We are especially thankful to the mayor and council members for supporting our youth. We also appreciate our sponsors for their dedication and commitment to the program. They are Tina Pugh, Steve James and Marty Parker. Our corporate sponsor is Boise," said Chamber Director LaShaunda Holly. (Photo submitted)
