Turner gets two 12-year terms for sodomy

Marion Turner Sr., 67, of Wagarville, was sentenced to serve two concurrent 12-year terms for his conviction of sodomy and sexual abuse last year.

Turner received the sentences in Washington County Circuit Court Monday, Jan. 14. The sentence was handed down by retired Judge Braxton Kittrell who formerly served as a judge in a neighboring circuit.

In December, Turner was found guilty of engaging in deviate sexual intercourse by forcible compulsion and subjecting the victim to sexual contact by forcible compulsion. The charges against him stemmed from a complaint filed by a female, who reportedly stated the had sexually abused her at his residence in July of 2003 when she was 13.

During Monday's proceedings, the court heard statements from the victim's family. Turner has 42 days to file an appeal.
