By Evan Carden SA Editor

The Jackson Police Department is investigating a complaint from a resident of Fairhope who allegedly had her identity stolen by a Jackson resident.

Disabled auto stolen

A disabled vehicle was reported stolen, Jan. 12, from the 100 block of Gillmore Lane.

According to Chief Burge, the Mazda, which is described as having a sunroof and a tan stripe, was disabled for sometime and is believed to have been taken sometime between Jan. 4 and 12.

Anyone with information concerning the stolen vehicle is asked to call the Jackson Police Department at 246-4484.

Investigators warn

of counterfeit bills

Jackson Police Investigator Richard Harvey is warning local business owners to be on the lookout for counterfeit $100 bills in the area.

"I received a call from Thomasville Detective Bill Spinks who said several of the counterfeit bills have turned up in the north part of the county," said Harvey. "The counterfeiters are washing out real $5 bills and printing $100s on the paper, so that when the pens used to identify the bills are used they appear to be real."

Harvey said two white male suspects driving a white Mazda automobile are being sought in connection with the case. Those who have any information can contact the Jackson Police Department at 246- 4484 or Thomasville Police at (334) 636-2174.
