'Disciple Now '08' scheduled at First Baptist Church in Jackson

In December, 2007, Mt. Olive Baptist Church members completed the Christian Leadership School Certificate of Progress Program. The school is certified through the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education U.S.A. Courses are available to everyone interested in Christian education.
"Disciple Now '08" is scheduled for Jan. 25-27 at First Baptist Church in Jackson. This is an event for youth in grades 6-12 to fellowship, have fun and grow in their relationship with Christ.

During the weekend, students will be housed in homes according to grade levels, as well as participating in worship services and activities at First Baptist. The theme for the weekend is RENOVATE, based on the Scripture, 2 Corinthians 5:17. This also goes along with the current renovation plans at the church involving the old sanctuary.

Special guest speaker will be Chad Poe from Chattanooga, Tenn. Camp pastor at the youth camp, Centifuge, that First Baptist youth attended this past summer in Mississippi. His messages are directly aimed toward youth.

Special guests for music will be Steve "Opie" Thomas and his band. Opie also led worship at the same summer camp. There will be 19 college-aged student leaders leading inhome Bible studies with the students for the weekend.

FBC students, parents and staff invite all youth in the surrounding area to participate in Disciple Now. Registration will continue at First Baptist Church through Jan. 25. Applications are available in the church office. Cost for the weekend is $20 and includes all meals, a T-shirt and all other weekend activities. For additional information call the FBC office at 246-4491 or Tim Mullinix at 246-0828.

There will be a late registration on Thursday night, Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. with a challenge given for the weekend. All are invited to attend.
