The Jackson High School Lady Aggies improved to 1-0 in area play with a 65-43 thrashing of the Monroeville Tigers Wednesday, Jan. 2, in Jackson.

"We scored a lot of points," Aggie coach Trinnia McKenzie said of the area win. " We got a lot of points off of turnovers. We were aggressive and made it to the foul line a lot but we were not able to capitalize when we got there."

The Lady Aggies came out firing on all cylinders en route to a commanding 33-18 lead at intermission. Brittanee Crayton was the leading scorer for Jackson with 17 points. Genesis Bernard had another solid outing with 13 points and Raven Tiggs chipped in with 10. Megan Williams had 10 points to lead the Tigers.

Jackson traveled to Mobile Friday, Jan. 4, to take on Blount and came back with a 60-40 loss to the 5A Leopards.

Tiggs led the Aggies on offense with 14 points. Jamilia McKennis was the game's leading scorer with 22 points for Blount.

"We need to play teams like Blount," McKenzie said. " It helps our girls keep their focus. We are getting into area play now and playing good competition will help us."
