ThyssenKrupp begins hiring process

ThyssenKrupp Steel USA and ThyssenKrupp Stainless USA recently announced the beginning of the hiring process for professional salaried positions. This process will continue over the next three years until the $3.7 billion state-of-the-art carbon and stainless steel processing facility commences operations in 2010. When fully operational, the plant will employ 2,700.

Both companies are seeking qualified professionals to fill jobs in operations management, accounting and finance, information technology, human resources, logistics, purchasing, project management, maintenance management, production planning, steel sales and marketing, environmental health and safety, engineering and quality assurance.

Interested candidates can view available positions and submit their resumes online via the "Careers" link at www.thyssenkruppnewusplant.com . New openings will be added regularly, and interested applicants are encouraged to visit the site often. Advertisements will begin appearing in local and regional publications this month.

Resumes will be reviewed by the companies' human resources teams. Candidates deemed qualified will be contacted by ThyssenKrupp Steel USA or ThyssenKrupp Stainless USA for interviews.

When the decision to site the facility in Alabama was announced in May, all applicants were requested to submit their resumés through the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce. Some individuals also submitted resumés to Alabama Industrial Development Training (AIDT). Resumés that have been submitted to the chamber or AIDT to date have now been turned over to ThyssenKrupp. There is no need to resubmit for professional positions.

"This is a great opportunity for new hires to get in on the ground floor of what is expected to be one of the largest private industrial development projects in the United States over the next decade," said Andy Ritter, vice president of Human Resources at ThyssenKrupp Steel USA. "We want to thank the Chamber and AIDT for coordinating resumes on our behalf for the past months and we are pleased that we are now ready to receive them through our own site."

In November, ThyssenKrupp Steel USA and ThyssenKrupp Stainless USA broke ground at the construction site of their new 3,500-acre joint facility in Calvert. The new plant will process carbon and stainless steel for high-value applications by manufacturers in the United States and throughout North America. It will serve industries including automotive, construction and household appliances.

The ThyssenKrupp Group, based in Duesseldorf, Germany, is a global technology company which consists of five business segments - steel, stainless, sechnologies, elevator and services.

The company has annual sales of €51.7 billion (US$68.75 billion) and employs more than 191,000 in more than 70 countries worldwide.
