Jackson Intermediate School recently conducted a contest to deternmine which classes could bring in the most recyclable items to raise money for their school. JIS recycles PDAs, iPods, cell phones, video games and consoles, inkjet cartridges, laser cartridges, digital cameras and laptops with Cartridges for Kids. The students have brought in enough items this year to earn more than $675. The winning classes were Mrs. Dean's third grade, Mrs. Beck's fourth grade, and Mrs. Wilhelm's fifth grade. Those teachers will receive $25 each to spend in their classrooms. Students who brought in recyclable items in the month of October had their names placed in a drawing for items donated by Record and Sound, Tack & Rack and Wal-Mart. Winning students are shown above with technology teacher, Shan Higginbotham. Items for recycling may be dropped off at JIS or call 246-1599 to have them picked up.
