Wilkins announces candidacy for delegate

Jamie Wilkins
Jamie Wilkins, of Jackson, recently announced his candidacy as a delegate to the 2008 Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn.

If elected in the Feb. 5 GOP Presidential Primary, Wilkins will attend the convention as a Ron Paul delegate. "I'm honored to be included on the Ron Paul slate," said Wilkins. "I support Representative Paul because the Republican Party needs to get back to its old traditions of less big government, more personal freedom and sound money."

Wilkins is running for a delegate slot in the First Congressional District, which includes half of Clarke County and all of Washington County. "I am the only candidate for delegate to the GOP Convention from the Clarke- Washington counties area," he said. "I think this area needs to be represented at this national event, so vote for Ron Paul on Feb. 5 and give our area a say."

Wilkins is a longtime member of the Republican Party who has been active in politics for many years.
