Citizens' Police Academy graduates

The Jackson Police Department conducted a graduation ceremony for those completing its sixth session of the Citizens' Police Academy. The program allows ordinary citizens to experience some of the procedures of police work and training. In attendance (L-R) were Deputy Chief Mark Harrell, graduates Chris Baker, Sarah L. Bozeman, Eric Branch, Shelly Branch, Janger Cartee, Angie Foreman, Wendy Hoven, William Hoven, Manuel Jones, Darrell Overstreet and Chief Charles Burge. Not pictured is graduate Paula Bradley. District Attorney Spencer Walker was the guest speaker for the event. He commended each of the graduates for their participation in the program. "Citizen involvement is imperative to law enforcement," he said. "You are they eyes and ears of the police because you see things that uniformed officers can't see." (SA photo by Evan Carden)
