CCHS students to begin year in new school

Students, teachers and others at Clarke County High School in Grove Hill have been busy over the Christmas holidays moving desks, books and other items from the old school into the new $6 million facility recently completed. Plans are for classes to resume in the new building when students return from the holiday break next week. The new school was built on the existing campus, on the site of a 1920s building that was demolished. The new school contains a new cafeteria. The old cafeteria was demolished last week in preparation for a new band building that will be built on that site. The 1936 school building will also be torn down, according to school officials, to make room for additional parking on the campus. Some have advocated saving the old school but that appears unlikely.
