Thomasville High School to benefit from energy grant Thomasville High School is among schools across the state that will benefit from a $165,000 grant awarded through the governor's office to improve energy efficiency and reduce utility costs. Eleven school systems were each awarded $15,000 grants. In many instances the funding will be used to make improvements at multiple schools within a system. The improvements range from replacing air conditioning units to adding insulation. Attic insulation will be added at Thomasville High School. "These grants will save school systems money that can be applied toward the classroom and make schools more conducive to learning," said Gov. Bob Riley. Other school systems receiving grants included: ·Conecuh County to replace lighting at Repton and Conecuh County junior high schools and Thurgood Marshall Middle School. ·Coosa County to replace lighting and add attic insulation at Central High School. ·Dallas County to replace a total of eight heating and airconditioning units at Valley Grande Elementary and Southside and Dallas County high schools. ·Marengo County to replace six heating and air-conditioning units at Marengo County High School. ·Hale County to replace windows at Hale County High School. ·Perry County to install door closers, weather stripping and attic insulation at R.C.
