Jackson man dies 10 days after being found injured in street
By Evan Carden SA Editor

A Jackson man died 10 days after he was found injured and lying in the street.

According to Jackson Police Detective Richard Harvey, Willard Hazewood Jr., 53, died Dec. 23 in a Mobile hospital. Hazewood was found lying in the road, bleeding from his head, on East Boyles Street the evening of Dec. 13. He was transported to Jackson Medical Center then by helicopter to Mobile.

Harvey said he spoke with an employee of the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences who stated that a preliminary exam indicated Hazewood more than likely died from natural causes.

At the time of the incident, it was unclear whether Hazewood was a victim of a hit-and-run or suffered from some type of medical condition.
