Hendryx Wyatt Gray
Hendryx Wyatt Gray, a native of Jackson and resident of Jackson and Destin, Fla., died Nov. 29, 2008 at his Jackson home, after a lengthy battle with lung cancer. He was 57 years of age. President of Gray Timber, Inc., he had been in the banking business for 21 years in Atlanta, Ga. A graduate of Marion Institute and Georgia Tech, he was a member of the Ft. Walton Beach Elks Club and a lifetime member of the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed spending time with his family, was an avid hunter and fisherman and had a special love of the woods and playing golf at the beach. His parents, Marion Glover Gray and John Michael Gray Jr., preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Janet French Gray of Destin and Jackson; three daughters, Leslie Gray (Brandon) Stricklin, Christy Gray and Katy Gray, all of Destin; one sister, Brenda Gray (Charlie) Jacklin of Palo Alto, Calif.; two brothers, John Michael (Debbie) Gray III of Groton, Conn. and Marion Glover (Judy) Gray III of The Woodlands, Texas; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were Dec. 3 at the First Baptist Church of Jackson with interment at Pine Crest Cemetery in Jackson under the direction of Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson.
Pallbearers were Jerry Andrews, Dave Byerly, Colin Barker, Jay Betts, Bob Bowling, Mike Furr, Richard Skipper and Kevin Taylor. Honorary pallbearers included John Duff, Andy Furr, Bryant Bolen and George Skipper III.
