The Jackson Aggies knocked off the Holtville Bulldogs 25-2 Friday night at Legion Field behind a stifling defense to advance to the second round of the AHSAA playoffs. The Aggies limited the Bulldogs to just 79 total yards while rolling up 398 on offense. More ... The Leroy Bears extended their win streak to 20 with a 47- 21 drubbing of the Elba Tigers Friday night at Palmer Stadium. The Bears sprinted out to a 26-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Clint Moseley found Stephen Scoggins wide open for a 38- yard touchdown pass with 10:02 to go in the opening period to get things started for the Bears. More ... The Aggies' defense dominated and the offense put up enough points in the first half to seal the win. Now the Aggies advance to the second round of the playoffs and have to do something that is not easy to do in football. More ... The Jackson Lady Aggies kicked off the season last week with a loss to Blount but improved to 2-1 by winning the Lady Bear Tip-off Classic in Leroy. "It was a typical first week," Aggie coach Trinnia McKenzie said. "The first game against Blount gave us a chance to get in sync as a team. We did a lot of good stuff. More ... Millry High School defeated New Brockton in the first round of the AHSAA 2A football playoffs 33-0 Friday night on Wildcat Hill in Millry. New Brockton ended their season at 6-5. Millry got their first touchdown on a 15-yard pass from Joseph Whitsett to DeWayne Franks in the first quarter and with the extra point good, the Wildcats led 7-0. More ... Washington County High School won their first playoff game since 2003 with a 18-6 win over the Barbour County Jaguars. The Bulldogs rode a strong defensive performance for the win, holding the Jags to 9 rushing yards and only 85 total yards. More ... The Jackson Midgets celebrate after winning the championship over Leroy. They played Leroy for the championship Saturday, Nov. 8 in Silas. The game was tied at the end of regulation 14-14.
