Jackson City Councilman Paul South (left) recently received 2008 Golden Eagle Honorary Award at the Alabama Senior Citizens Hall of Fame Awards Ceremony, conducted in Montgomery Sunday, Sept. 28. The award is given in recognition of outstanding service to senior citizens. Montgomery Mayor Bobby Bright (right) was the guest speaker. During the past several months I have enjoyed making fig and pear preserves, pear honey and apple jelly. I guess I have spoiled my husband Mike as he never wants store-bought jellies, jams or preserves.
