Jackson man accused of hit and run

Garcia Garcia A Jackson man has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident and DUI following an incident that reportedly occurred in the Chickasaw police district Monday, Sept. 22.

According to a report in the Mobile Register, Rodney Garcia, 65, was arrested sometime after 12:30 a.m., when the incident is said to have occurred. He allegedly struck a Nissan Altima with his Toyota Corolla, while driving north on I-65, causing damage to the vehicle and what was reported as minor injuries to the driver of the Nissan.

Garcia's blood alcohol level was reportedly above the 0.08 level, which would constitute the DUI charge. The leaving the scene of an accident charge is a felony because the incident involved injury.

Garcia was booked into the Mobile County Jail around 5:30 a.m. and later released on $6,000 bond.
