McIntosh Police, Tuesday, Sept. 2, reported the arrests of a McIntosh man and a Florida woman on drug possession charges.

According to Lt. Charles Koger, Officer Brad Singleton clocked Alex Cleave Reed, 49, speeding, around 11 a.m., while southbound on U.S. Highway 43. Once Singleton made the traffic stop, he obtained consent to search Reed's vehicle and discovered what he believed to be two small pieces of crack cocaine.

Reed and a female passenger in the car, Shawn Johnson Hendry, 45, of Florida, were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. Hendry is also being held on warrants from Florida for check forgery. Extradition proceedings are currently under way while she is being held in the Washington County Jail.
