The Jackson Fire Department responded to a fire, Friday, Aug. 8, around 3:15 p.m., at the 815 Depot Road residence of Mary Gamble. Firefighters were on the scene for several hours fighting the blaze, which destroyed the home. Although it is not confirmed, a spokesperson for the fire department said it is believed that the fire may have started in the kitchen area of the home. At one point an electrical line to the residence broke loose and was sparking on the ground near the burning house. An electrical crew from Alabama Power Company responded to the scene.
