Lanita Jones Burroughs, 65, died at Waccamaw Community Hospital July 3, 2008 after an illness. She was the daughter of the late Louis Chesley Jones and Anne Laura Allen Jones. She was a member of the Sumter Garden Club, Sumter, S.C.

Survivors include her husband, George R. Burroughs Jr. of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; one son, George B. (Debora) McEwen III of Ft. Myers, Fla.; one daughter, Laura M. (Timothy) Fogarty of Orange Park, Fla.; three grandchildren, Michael Fogarty, Elizabeth Fogarty and Katie McEwen; and great aunts and uncles, Bill and Mildred Roberts of Sevierville, Tenn., Hubert G. and Janie Bolen, and Jimmy and Glenda Allen, all of Jackson.

Funeral services were July 7 from the chapel of Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway. Burial followed in Lakeside Cemetery.
