Participants will be given the opportunity to access such information during free genealogy classes at the Washington County Public Library this month. For more information contact the library at (251) 847-2097. The Washington County Public Library (WCPL) will offer free genealogy workshops during the month of July.

The classes are made possible through part of an education grant provided by ALA-TOM RC&D and will be lead by Washington County Museum curator, Barbara Waddell.

"The WCPL is proud to offer free access for the public to Ancestry.com sponsored through generous memorial gifts from the family and loved ones of Mr. Joe Granade," said Library Director Jessica Ross.

The classes will begin with a general introduction to genealogy research on July 14, 6-8 p.m. at the WCPL. During the class, participants will receive materials and information that will assist them in their research.

Participants will be educated on the basics of family history searches, how to begin a family tree and will be able to schedule dates for further online genealogy workshops throughout the month. These will include Ancestry.com and online family research.

Workshops are free to the public, however, space is limited. Those interested in attending the workshops should register by calling (251) 847- 2097 or in person at the Washington County Public Library by 5 p.m., Friday, July 11.
