Man found dead in Winn
Police are still investigating the death of a Winn man whose body was found on County Road 3 just north of Bethlehem Road Thursday, June 26.
According to District Attorney Spencer Walker and reports released by the Alabama Department of Public Safety, Michael Anthony Bumpers, 42, was discovered between 9:30 and 10 p.m. He was transported to Grove Hill Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The exact cause of Bumpers' death could not be determined, according to Walker, who said his body was turned over to the Alabama Department of Forensics (ADF) for autopsy. "We won't know for sure what caused his death until we get those results," he added.
Walker said a spokesperson with the ADF stated that visual injuries on Bumpers' body may be consistent with being struck by an automobile. The Alabama Department of Public Safety has assigned a traffic homicide investigator to the case. Anyone with information concerning the incident is asked to call the district attorney's office at (251) 275- 3147, the Alabama Department of Public Safety at (251) 578- 1315, or the Clarke County Sheriff's Department at (251) 275-8156.
