3C Coalition meets Saturday
The 3C Coalition will meet Saturday, June 21, 10 a.m. until 12 noon at the Mt. Olive No. 2 Baptist Church in Jackson. Everyone is invited to attend. Robert Dean is president.
Pee Wee football and cheerleader registration will be June 24
Pee Wee football and cheerleader registration will be offered at Legion Field in Jackson, Tuesday, June 24 from 5-7 p.m. A $55 fee will be required at sign up. Registrants will need to provide a copy of their birth certificate.
Other sign up dates will be July 1, 8, 12, 15, 19, 22 and 26 is the last opportunity to register.
National Safety Month event offered
Free hotdogs and popsicles will be provided at the Jackson Wal- Mart on June 21, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. in recognition of June as National Safety Month. Leaders from the community will be involved in providing fun and information for youth and adults. Safety tips will be provided throughout the month at the store.

Coffeeville Music Festival to be July 5
The 2nd annual Coffeeville Music Festival will be Saturday, July 5 on Dr. Edwina Hart's property, 21370 Highway 69 South, Coffeeville. Featured entertainers will include the Land Boys, Taylor and Megan Brooks, Mr. Mozingo & Bluegrass Friends, Mt. Zion No. 2 praise team, Taylor Sisters and Mark Courington, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.; blues and jazz artists Doktu Rhute Muuzic, formerly Roy Hytower and Steve Perry, 6 p.m. - until.
Food venders will be on site, arts and crafts, activities and games will be available for the children.

Team Grits hosts yard sale
Team Grits will be hosting a yard sale to raise funds for the American Cancer Society on Saturday, June 21, 8 a.m., at the McIntosh United Methodist Church. There will be something for everyone. There are too many items to list, members indicate it's a must see to believe event.
Export seminar to be conducted in Monroeville
The Monroeville/Monroe County Chamber of Commerce, Alabama Tombigbee Regional Planning Commission and Coastal Gateway Economic Development Authority are hosting an Export Assistance Seminar and Luncheon Friday, June 27, on the second floor in the Bank Trust conference room, 60 Hines St., Monroeville from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Speakers will include members of the Export Alabama Alliance.
Discussion points will include: Overseas sales and marketing solutions, customized foreign marked research, export finance, export seminars and workshops, trade missions and shows. Information presented is applicable to all businesses, however, companies with annual revenues of $5,000,000 or higher are most likely to have the capacity to enter foreign markets.

HIPPY Registration at DHR
The Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) Clarke County program will host the WOW Mobile on Thursday, June 19, 2008. This traveling activity center will be available to 3, 4 and 5 year olds of parents who would like to enroll in the program for the 2008-2009 year. All HIPPY families may take advantage of this fun learning experience for children.

Animal Care and Control Facility Study Group hosts public meeting
The Clarke County Animal Care and Control Facility Study Group will host a public meeting Thursday, July 17, 5:30 p.m. in the commissioners' courtroom. Discussion will be on the feasibility and need of a countywide animal care and control operation. The public is invited to share their questions and concerns.

Accepting registration for 3-5 year olds
Coffeeville, Fulton, Harper Head Start and Coffeeville Pre-K are now accepting applications for 2008-2009. Children ages 3-5 years of age are eligible.
Registrants must provide the following when applying: Proof of income, birth certificate, Social Security cards of household members, proof of insurance, current immunization record, current physical and two (2) forms of identification showing families living address. Children with disabilities are accepted with documentation of disability (IEP, ISFP, medical documentation).

Deas family reunion June 21
There will be a reunion of all descendants of Alonzo and Walter Deas on June 21 in Jackson. Activities will begin at 10 a.m. at the VFW on Club Wiley Road, the first road on the left after crossing the Tombigbee River when traveling north on U.S. 43.
Those planning to attend are asked to bring a covered dish. All family and friends are invited to attend.
Alonzo and Walter Deas were twins, born in 1867 in Clarke County. Alonzo was father to 11 children: Lula (Dungan), Will, Mamie (Beverly), Bertha (Milstead), Walter, Maynard, Bea (Darawich), Anna Belle (Roh), Edley, Ellis and a deceased infant son. Walter fathered 15 children: John Lester, Malcolm, Mack, Audrey (Robinson, Rainey), Minnie Pearl, Leon Cecil, Sam and eight who are deceased.
Research on these families is continuing, so birth dates, photos or additional family history will be appreciated.

Social assistance on Wednesdays at Salvation Army

Heart of Dixie Collectors Club meets last Monday of month
The Heart of Dixie Collectors Club will meet the last Monday of every month at the Jackson Steakhouse at 7 p.m. in the meeting room. Collectors of all types are welcome in sharing their knowledge and collections.
