Clarke County HIPPY program improving kids' lives

Golf course attacks
      We are happy to see arrests made for the attack of a 76- year-old local citizen playing alone on the Jackson Links golf course but we are still concerned about the problem. Jackson citizens and out-of-town guests who enjoy golf should be able to play the course without fear of being mugged.

Jim Nabors- 'Gomer Pyle' turns 75-years-old June 12

      June 12, 1933: Actor and singer Jim Nabors is born in Sylacauga. Nabors began acting while a student at the University of Alabama, and is best known for his Gomer Pyle character, who appeared on "The Andy Griffith Show" from 1960 to 1964, and later on his own series, "Gomer Pyle, USMC.
