Mary Catherine Hayes, 87, died June 1, 2008 at the Wayne County General Hospital, Waynesboro, Miss., at the age of 87. A native and resident of Bigbee, she was a homemaker and a member of Midway Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include one son, Charles (Virginia) Hayes of Millry; four daughters, Betty (Leo) Donald and Lillian Jones, both of Chunchula, Virginia (Cecil) Sheffield of St. Stephens and Linda (Jimmie) Butts of Frankville; two sisters, Irene DuPrey of Ford, Wash. and Virgie Beech of Hobson; eight grandchildren, Dewayne Donald, Dean Jones, Catherine "Cissy" Carpenter, Quentin (Jeanie) Butts, Kristie (Kyle) Brown, Charlie Hayes, Heath (Crissy) Hayes and Charlene (Todd) Davis; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were June 3 in the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom with the Rev. Lamar Chapman officiating. Interment was in Wesley's Chapel Cemetery in Bigbee.

Active pallbearers were Quentin Butts, Charlie Hayes, Heath Hayes, Dean Jones, Kyle Brown, Stacy Carpenter, Todd Davis and Randy Morris.
