An explosion at Louisiana- Pacific's Clarke OSB mill south of Thomasville early Wednesday morning injured six workers and has temporarily shut down the plant. The Thomasville Volunteer Fire Department was called to the scene at 1:56 a.m., Wednesday morning, but the page firefighters received was for a brush fire, so the first truck on scene was a brush truck. A wreck the afternoon of May 1, on U.S. Highway 43 near Edgewood Drive, left two people injured. According to Jackson Police reports, Johnny Earl Causey, 69, was headed north in a 2001 Dodge Durango and attempted to turn left into Catholic Social Services, located just north of Edgewood. He apparently turned into the path of a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by Ethel Young Autry, 56 of Coffeeville. Autry and Cindy L. Causey, 53, a passenger in Causey's vehicle received what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries and were transported by ambulance to Jackson Medical Center for treatment. A black bear was captured by conservation officers around midnight Friday near Cirrus Road north of Coffeeville after it had entered a residence and scared the occupants. The bear had been tagged in January near Carrabelle, Fla. after its mother had been killed by a car. More...
