Tough week for JA boys

The Jackson Academy Eagles' boys varsity team dropped three games this week in round ball action to fall to 1- 6 on the season

Patrician 46, JA 27

JA traveled to Butler Monday, Dec. 4, to take on Patrician Academy and fell 46-27 to the 2A Saints. At halftime, the Eagles were down 31-15 and never could overcome the deficitdespite a solid second half. Wesley Harris led Jackson Academy with 14 points. Josh Williams had four while David Hughston, Sawyer Donald and Trent Slayton all had three points each in the loss.

Southern Academy Tourney The Eagles headed up to Greensboro to take part in the Southern Academy Tournament losing to the host team Southern and Marengo to finish with no wins in the competition.

Southern 78, JA 30

Jackson Academy was no match for Southern Academy Friday, Dec. 7, falling 78-30 in the worst loss of the season for the Eagles. Harris led the Eagles again in scoring with nine points. Williams added eight and Dent Beard rounded out the leading scorers with four points.

Marengo 51, JA 36

The Marengo Academy Longhorns downed the Eagles 51-36 in the consolation game Saturday, Dec. 8, in Greensboro. Trailing by just five points at the half (26-21), JA sputtered in the second half and the Longhorns were able to pull away for the win. Hughston was the leading scorer with 15 points. Trent Slayton had seven, Harris had six and Williams added four for the Eagles.

Jackson Academy will try to get things back on track with a road game at Clarke Prep tonight at 4 p.m.

• The Jackson Academy junior varsity boys picked up their first victory of the season with a 29-27 double overtime win over Patrician Dec. 4. Sawyer Donald led all scorers with nine points. Sam Scott added six, Jon Harvey and Will Wright had five points each and Storm Cabiness chipped in with four points in the big win for the Eagles.
