By Evan Carden SA Editor

AJackson man was transported to a Mobile hospital via helicopter, Monday, after he was found lying in the street with a severe head injury.

According to Police Chief Charles Burge, officers, along with emergency medical personnel, were dispatched to East Boyles Street around 5:13 p.m., where they found Willard Hazewood Jr., 53, lying in the road bleeding from his head. The circumstances that led to his injury remain under investigation.

"At this point it is unclear whether he was the victim of a hit and run or suffers from some type of medical condition," said Burge.

Hazewood was transported to Jackson Medical Center by ambulance then transferred by LifeFlight to Mobile.
