Funds needed to assist victims of fire
Letters to the Editor
Dear Editor,

They say that something NOT happening is not news. But if there was a fire in Washington County that displaced a family and the Red Cross DID NOT show up to help, that would be news!

So far this week, the Washington County chapter has responded to two home fires in McIntosh, providing families with clothing and a caring person to offer emotional support. These fires mark the 21st response this year.

All Red Cross assistance is provided for free, which is only made possible by the compassion and generosity of Washington County residents. On average, the Washington County chapter spends $1,200 monthly responding to home fires. The Washington County chapter depends on the generous support of Washington County residents to provide relief to the suffering of our neighbors whose lives are devastated by home fires. By making a financial contribution to the Washington County chapter today, you can help the Red Cross be ready to respond, help fire victims and teach others the skills they need to keep their families safe from a fire before it happens.

To learn more about fire prevention and preparedness visit www.redcross.org/homefires. To make a financial donation, call the Washington County Chapter at 251-847-2491.
