Ribbon cut at new police station
Top photo: Past and present Jackson city officials, police officers, past police chiefs and members of the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce attended a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the new Jackson Police Department, which has been open for approximately a month. An open house was conducted for the public from 2-6 p.m. Those attending were given tours of the new facility, which features a state-of-the-art communications room, two holding cells and a sally port, which provides a secure area for officers to transfer prisoners to and from patrol cars. The $1 million construction project began in January with Hub Construction of Jackson as the contractor. Work on the new station was completed in early October.
