Harper Head Start announces recruitment Applications are currently being accepted for the Harper Head Start mass recruitment. A Redneck in the Black Hills book signing Alabama author Colette Johnson will be signing her latest book A Redneck in the Black Hills at the White Smith Memorial Library on Monday, Dec. 3, from 2-6 p.m. The book relates the author's trip through the Black Hills with her husband and includes an interview with the late Tony Anton who had worked on the faces of Mt. Rushmore. Historical characters such as Jesse James, Chief Crazy Horse and John Wayne are given new life. SWAPAA hosts covered luncheon Members of the Southwest Alabama Porcelain Artists Association will be hosting a covered dish luncheon on Saturday, Dec. 1, at the First United Methodist Church in Jackson. Participants will meet at 10:30 a.m. for this special Christmas luncheon. All members are encouraged to attend. They will not need their paints for this event. 'Tour of Homes' and open house in Coffeeville Get into the Christmas spirit by taking part in Coffeeville's "Tour of Homes" on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2-4:30 p.m. Homes on tour will be decorated for the holidays. Coffeeville Big Buck Contest November 17th marked the kick off of the Coffeeville Big Buck Contest. 'Dress & Feed the Needy' campaign at Downtown Inn Motel Clothes, shoes and nonperishable foods will be collected at the Downtown Inn Motel Saturday, Nov. 24, 8 a.m. - 12 noon. Narcotics Anonymous meeting Narcotics Anonymous will be meeting Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m., First Presbyterian Church, 302 E. Church St., Jackson. Alcoholics Anonymous meetings Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are conducted in the fellowship hall of Visitation Catholic Church, West Clinton Street in Jackson Wednesdays, 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m. Diabetes Classes Diabetes classes will be conducted each Tuesday, 6:30 p.m. at the Jackson Medical Center. Heart of Dixie Collectors Club meets last Monday of month The Heart of Dixie Collectors Club will meet the last Monday of every month at the Jackson Steakhouse at 7 p.m. in the meeting room.
