Much like a heavyweight boxing match the team from Millry and Washington County traded punches for four quarters, but in the end it was the blow from the Wildcats that put them over the top 28-26 over the Bulldogs Thursday night at Jordan-Wilcox Stadium, in front of a packed house with standing room only.

The win allowed Millry to finish the regular season a perfect 10-0 while Washington County falls to 7-3. Both squads are advancing to the playoffs.

In the fourth quarter, with Washington County leading the contest 25-22, Jones fell on a loose pigskin at the Bulldog 32- yard line, setting up the final possession for the Wildcats.

A pass interference penalty moved the ball to the 20-yard line and with Millry facing a third down and 8 yards to go, quarterback Dylan Whitsett lofted a pass to Jones who gathered it in and stumbled into the end zone with :30.6 seconds left in the game. A celebration penalty moved the point-after try to the 18-yard line. The kick was blocked by Millry had the 28-26 lead and eventual victory.

Washington County started the game with a bang as they drove 59 yards in just three plays with fullback Jarvis Abston powered his way in on a 5-yard run to cap the drive. The added PAT gave the Bulldogs a 7-0 lead with 10:59 to go in the first period.

The Wildcats answered on the ensuing possession as they drove 68 yards in nine plays to hit pay dirt.

Whitsett dialed in wide-out Chris Cherry with a 41-yard TD pass with 6:32 left in the period. The kick was good, knotting the game at 7-7.

Millry's defense stepped up their play and forced a punt on the next Bulldog possession.

It took just two plays to cover the distance once the Wildcat offense got the ball as Whitsett tossed a 60-yard bomb to Allen Guy for the touchdown. The attempt was no good, Millry took a 13-7 with 4:03 left in the first frame.

In the second quarter the Washington County offense played keep-away from the Wildcats as they held the ball for 22 snaps compared to just four for Millry.

Early in the period they started at their own 34-yard line and started driving. Staying exclusively on the ground the Bulldogs pushed their way through the Millry defense.

Quarterback Drake Warr ended the drive with a 10-yard keeper. The attempt was no good and the game was tied 13-13 with 5:42 left in the half.

Washington County attempted another scoring drive but the pass was intercepted at the Millry 5-yard line by Jones, ending the drive, as the half came to an end.

Millry got the ball back following the free kick, but on the fourth down play Lavance Williams picked off a pass and returned it 70 yards for the WCHS touchdown.

The try for two came up short but the Bulldogs retook the lead 19-15 with 8:15 left in the period.

The Wildcats answered the score on the ensuing possession as Jones sprinted 10 yards for the touchdown. The play capped a 53 yard, seven play drive. The kick was good, giving Millry a 22-19 lead late in the third quarter.

Devonte Parker scored from 7 yards out, but the key play in the drive was Warr's 29-yard completion to Donte Turner with the Bulldogs facing fourth and 12 yards to go on the previous play, keeping the drive alive.

The Bulldog defense ended a possible scoring drive in the final minutes with an interception by Johntae Parnell at the WCHS 25-yard line.

Two plays later Jones recovered the fumble, setting up the Millry game-winning drive.
