Bears maul Tigers 39-13

The Leroy Bears put a wrap on their regular season with a 39-13 win over the Choctaw County Tigers on Friday night. With the win, Leroy moves to 9- 1 on the season and ended the season at 7-0 in 2A Region 1 play.

Clint Moseley added to his season passing totals in the first quarter when he connected with Patrick Rivers for 56 and 38- yard touchdown receptions. Gartman added both of his first quarter extra points to give Leroy a 14-0 lead.

The junior quarterback, Moseley, was 9-of-15 passing on the night with 248 yards to eclipse the 2000 yard mark for the season.

In the second quarter of play on Friday night, Moseley hit junior Aerik Davis for a 27-yard touchdown reception. Moseley also ran 4 yards for another touchdown. Gartman hit one of the two extra points in the second quarter to give Leroy a 27-0 lead going into the locker room at halftime.

Detrick Powell added a pair of third-quarter touchdowns on runs of 5 and 9 yards as the Bears built a 39-0 lead.

Choctaw County was able to get on the board with a 2-yard pass from Joshua McRae to Mike Graham and a 10-yard run by Willie Ruffin. One of their two extra points was good as Leroy took the 39-13 win to wrap up their regular season. Leroy (9-1) will host the Luverne Tigers (5-5) in the first round of the AHSAA state playoffs in Leroy on Friday night.
