The Washington County Sheriff's Office hosted a 16-hour training course Nov. 5 and 6 at the Chatom Community Center, designed to help law enforcement officers learn how to identify methamphetamine and components of the labs which produce the illegal drug.

The class was geared toward first line law enforcement responders, including street officers and road deputies. the class was paid for by a grant from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) and was a cooperative effort of the Law Enforcement Academy and the Tuscaloosa and Washington County sheriff's departments. It was offered free to all law enforcement officers.
