D.A.S.H. program offers unique learning experiences

Leroy students spend an afternoon learning about farm operations.
Leroy High School offers extended learning opportunities for its students in grades K-8 through the D.A.S.H. (Dynamic After School Hours) 21st Century Learning Center that operates after school from 3-5 p.m.

Recently, the students spent the afternoon with Rod Richardson and his son, David, at their farm. The students were able to visit both a peanut field and cotton field and learned about what happens to both of the products as they travel from the field to the table. They were able to climb aboard the giant tractors and even ate a few of the green peanuts. Students also learned that picking cotton is not very much fun.

The program is sponsored by a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant and operates daily. For additional information contact Betty Brackin at (251) 246-2199.
