HIPPY Parent Educators begin home visits
They also received extensive training with HIPPY USA trainer, Gail Jones, Oct. 15-17. During this three-day training, many community leaders came by to meet the trainer as well as the parent educators. Jones commented that in her 12 years of training for HIPPY, she had never seen a community show as much support as the citizens of Clarke County. Lunch and snacks for the three days were provided by the Clarke County Development Foundation (lead agency of the HIPPY program), the Southern Magnolia Study Club, and the Antioch A.M.E. Church of Gainestown. Gift bags/boxes were provided for the participants by other community leaders/agencies. The HIPPY Clarke County program will be serving 63 families during the 2007-2008 program. The Parent Educators for the HIPPY Clarke County program are Jennifer Agee, serving families in the Thomasville area; Edith Allen, serving families in the Grove Hill/Fulton areas; Sally Anderson, serving families in the Coffeeville/Jackson areas; Valorie Hunt, serving families in the Gainestown/Jackson areas; and Johnnie Raine, serving families in the Grove Hill/Whatley areas.
The HIPPY Clarke County program is a project of the Clarke County Development Foundation. For further information contact Jane Sellers, coordinator, at the Dept. of Human Resources (275-3149) or (275-4650).
