Chatom to apply for $77,000 airport grant

The Chatom Town Council took the following actions Monday, Oct. 22:

•Voted to apply for a state grant to treat the asphalt on the runway at Roy Wilcox Airport; total cost• is $77,000 and the town's cost is $3,150, said Mayor Harold Crouch.

•Voted to apply for a federal grant for treating waste; police car;

•Approved a small donation to American Red Cross;

•Voted to sell guard rails at an abandoned drag strip for $20 each; and

•Voted to declare Nov. 13 as Retired Educators' Day.

Next meeting will be Thursday, Nov. 15; the council usually meets on the third Monday of the month.
