Support McIntosh Rescue Mr. Carden, this is in agreement to your editorial two weeks ago and the recent articles in your paper. As a resident of McIntosh for over 40 years, I'm sure I can speak for those of us who have had to call on our rescue squad. This group of people are ALL volunteers. They have never asked anyone to pay for their advanced training, dedication and commitment. One family in particular has been a driving force behind this squad for almost 30 years. They have been voted the best all volunteer squad in the state many times. One member has received "Rescuer of the Year" award twice. This young man rescued me and my family during the fury of Hurricane Ivan. Misters Williams, Palmer and Dixon, how many times have you answered an ambulance call and missed your children opening their Christmas presents or had to leave your family during Thanksgiving dinner? These volunteers have. Many times. They depend on donations, ambulance billing and taxes (of which you are trying to take away) to buy supplies, gasoline, insurance and upkeep of their equipment. And now this threeman board wants to replace them with a paid ambulance service. Why? We already have the best. Put this service where it is needed. We don't need them in south Washington County. I'm asking everyone who knows and has used these dedicated volunteers to bombard Mark Keahey and these guys with phone calls. Write a letter to the editor of local papers. Get a petition going to boot this board out and replace them with people who care about the citizens of our county. This bunch has spit in our faces and I'm mad! Penny Lane,
McIntosh
