University of Mobile presents 'Christmas Spectacular!'

The University of Mobile Center for Performing Arts (CPA) will present its fifth annual "Christmas Spectacular!" on Tuesday, Nov. 27 and Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 6:45 p.m. at Dauphin Way Baptist Church in Mobile. The church is located on the I-65 and Dauphin St. intersection in Mobile. Doors open at 6 p.m. for the free event.

Tickets are required and can be picked up for no charge at the CPA office in Martin Hall, LifeWay Christian Bookstore, or Crossroads Christian Bookstore in Mobile.

The free concert will feature Christmas selections ranging from the classics to pop performed by approximately 220 University of Mobile musicians, as well as guest performers. CPA performance groups to be featured during the evening include RamCorps, VOICES of Mobile, SOUNDS of Mobile, Shofar, IMPACT, barbershop quartets and the University Singers, which is composed of UM's Worship Choir and A Cappella Choir.

Children from choirs at Mount Hebron Church Ministries, Dauphin Way Baptist Church and First Baptist North Mobile will perform as special guests at the concert.

UM's professor quartet, For Show will also perform. Solos will be performed by UM students and CPA faculty members including, Assistant Professors of Music Allanda Small and Patrick Jacobs and Associate Professor of Music Mihaela Buhaiciuc. Dr. Al Miller, senior academic fellow and assistant professor of music, will direct the vocalists; and Randy Davis, assistant professor of music, will direct the instrumental performers.
