MARK YOUR CALENDAR Narcotics Anonymous meeting Narcotics Anonymous will be meeting Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m., First Presbyterian Church, 302 E. Church St., Jackson. Alcoholics Anonymous meetings Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are conducted in the fellowship hall of Visitation Catholic Church, West Clinton Street in Jackson Wednesdays, 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m. Diabetes Classes Diabetes classes will be conducted each Tuesday, 6:30 p.m. at the Jackson Medical Center. Heart of Dixie Collectors Club meets last Monday of month The Heart of Dixie Collectors Club will meet the last Monday of every month at the Jackson Steakhouse at 7 p.m. in the meeting room. Collectors of all types are welcome in sharing their knowledge and collections. Brunson reunion at Oak Grove Baptist Descendants of Hessie and Tom Brunson will host their family reunion Nov. 3 at 10:30 a.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish and enjoy the fellowship. Haunted House at Promise Theatre For everyone ready to be spooked, a haunted house will be at The Promise Theatre on Oct. 27, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Oct. 31, 6-10 p.m. Admission is $3. The theater is located at the historic Locke Theatre, 223 Commerce St., Jackson. Everyone is invited. Keahey meets with constituents in Clarke County State Rep. Marc Keahey, D-Grove Hill, will hold constituent meetings Tuesday, Nov. 1 in Clarke County. Keahey will meet with constituents at 11 a.m. at Jackson City Hall. A second meeting will be held at Grove Hill Town Hall at 4 p.m. A meeting will be conducted later in the month in Washington County. Keahey is serving his first term representing District 65, which includes parts of Choctaw and Clarke counties and all of Washington County. Coffeeville RSVP meets Nov. 6 The Coffeeville RSVP will meet at the Nutrition Center Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. Charles Dixon will be presenting a program on fire safety. Plans will also be discussed for the holiday dinner. Everyone is invited to attend. Eighth Annual Pioneer Day scheduled for Nov. 10 The Clarke County Museum's Eighth Annual Pioneer Day is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 10, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Clarke County Museum in Grove Hill. Among the featured demonstrations are rope making, shingle splitting candle dipping, flintknapping, corn shelling, chair caning, campfire cooking, cross-cut sawing, rug hooking, quilting, clothes washing and butter churning. The restored Mathews Cabin will be open for visitors and costumed re-enactors will be on hand to greet guests. Creek Indian Blue Heron will set up his 1800s hunting camp and Creek War soldiers will host a frontier encampment. There will be live music and storytelling throughout the day. Historical society meets Oct. 28 The Clarke County Historical Society will meet on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 2:30 p.m. at the Grove Hill Town Hall.
The speaker for the meeting will be Shane Etheredge of Wilcox County. He has worked in and around the forest Industry for more than 30 years. Author of A Logger's Dream", Etheredge has built, repaired and operated logging equipment for several generations of south Alabamians. He is currently employed by Boise.
