Demons rout J.F. Shields 33-6
The Demons used three special teams touchdown to ignite the big region victory. In the first quarter, Vincent Lewis recovered a bad snap on a punt in the end zone for the first points of the game for McIntosh. Josh Nichols added a 48-yard touchdown run to put the Demons up by two scores in the opening stanza. In the second quarter, it was déjavu all over when another bad snap on a punt was recovered in the end zone for the Demons with Josh Davis scooping the loose ball this time for the touchdown. Everett Horn added the last Demon touchdown of the first half on a 26-yard punt return to put McIntosh up 33-0 at the half. The second half quarters were shortened to eight minutes due to the score of the game but the Demons added one more touchdown on a 43- yard touchdown run by Buck Thomas. "We didn't play very well but a lot of that was because of what our opponent was doing. Sometimes when the other team has bad techniques and they keep doing bad things it affects the way you play," MHS Coach Larry Boykin said. The Demons will try to shore up the second spot in the region this Friday on the road against J.U. Blacksher. A win would mean home field advantage for the first round for Boykin's team.
"This is a very big game. Whoever wins gets home field advantage in the first round. That is huge. We really want to get that first game here. Our last few games of the regular season are on the road so if we have to travel in the playoffs it will put us not playing at home for a long time, " Boykin said.
