The championship game pitted the Bears against host Millry for the rights to be called county champions. The Bears won easily with a score of 25-10, 25-17 to take the county crown.

Leroy traveled to Bayside Academy Monday Oct. 15 to battle it out in the area tournament.

The Bears took on the Flomaton Hurricanes in the days first matchup and Leroy handled the Canes with little problems winning 25-5, 25-14 and 25-14.

Leroy met up with the topranked team in 2A and the host of the tournament the Bayside Admirals for the area championship. Bayside has won five straight 2A state championships.

The Admirials handed Leroy their first loss of the year in Class 2A and their first loss of the year against any classifaction other than 5A-6A.

Bayside Academy won 25-10 and 25-18 to take first place in the area and forcing the Bears to settle for second place.

"We had a good season but we could have played harder. We are working hard to learn new techniques so we will be able to compete at state," Leroy Coach Patty Goldman said.

When asked for stats from the games, she had a unique answer. "There is no "I" in team. I don't like giving stats because it may hurt someone else's feelings. If all six of us don't play together and play well then we lose. So the stats are really not important," Goldman said.

Stats were given from the championship game against Bayside with Megan Goldman picking up five aces and two kills; Rachel Abrams getting six aces while Chaniqua McMorris, Ada Collings and Ashley Snow combined for 12 kills for the Bears.
