UM Piano Ensemble concerts scheduled

The University of Mobile Piano Ensemble will feature performances by students and faculty at two concerts scheduled during the 2007-08 year.

The public is invited to the free concerts, which will be held Oct. 23, 2007, and March 25, 2008. Performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Thomas T. Martin Hall on the University of Mobile campus.

is under the direction of Barbara Laurendine, adjunct instructor of music in the UM Center for Performing Arts.

The fall concert will feature 22 pianists, with multiple pianos onstage. Works by John Phillip Sousa and Johannes Brahms are among the featured pieces, along with a variety of arrangements including "Thanksgiving Trilogy" arranged by Don Phillips and "Shout to the Lord" by Darlene Zschech.
