Anderson makes top five in Panhandle Star Competition

Chatom resident, Jason Anderson, performs at Panhandle Star Competition.
Jason Anderson from Chatom made the top five in WPAP 92.5 fm's Panhandle Star Competition. The third annual Indian Summer Seafood Festival in Panama City Beach, FLwas the best yet according to Ron Johnson, company organizer. Over 35,000 people attended the three-day event according to WPAP news report.

The search for the Panhandle Star began months ago when entrants from all over vied for the title of Panhandle Star. The list was narrowed down to the top 10 just days before the competition. The top ten opened Friday night for Clay Underwood and Little Texas. Anderson's voice has been compared to country music singer, Kenny Chesney. He kicked off his first round of competition with a Kenny Chesney song that pumped the crowd up and made them want more. More is what they got. Jason wowed the crowd with his original song "Son of the South" while working the stage with some moves that made the crowd go wild.

On Saturday night the top five opened for The Contagious Blues Band and John Michael Montgomery.

Not only does Jason have a talent for singing but he impressed the crowd with his natural wit when TV personality Tom Lewis and radio personality Dr. Shane interviewed him just prior to his second round of competition.

Jason performed a Brooks and Dunn song and another original called "Honky Tonk Down".

The winner will open for Trent Tomlinson on Sunday and will also be headed to Nashville to perform at Tootsies Orchid Lounge and the Palace.
