New play at old Locke Theatre this weekend

The Promise Theatre, formerly the old Locke Theatre, in downtown Jackson, will present the play, "Preacher Preach It" Oct. 20-21.

The play was written and is being produced and directed by local performing artist and owner of Ezell's Contemporary Dance Anthony Ezell. He described the production as a "dramatic gospel musical comedy, which tells the story of God's redeeming love toward lost and straying souls." It features local actors. According to Ezell, the play's humor is light and sometimes familiarly true. "Yes, the church may have its problems, but it is still the best thing going today," he said. "So come and learn to lighten up, love, laugh and live."

Tickets for the event may be purchased at Noel Expressions, Ezell's Contemporary Dance Theatre, Doshia's, Preschoolers Unlimited, the Promise Theatre, Regions Bank, Merchants Bank and First United Security Bank.
