Bulldogs run over Choctaw County 41-0
Ronnie Osborne set the table for the Bulldog offense when he recovered a Tiger fumble deep inside Choctaw County territory. It took just two snaps before Kenneth Kimbrough surged through with a 3-yard touchdown run. Mark Lambert kicked the PAT and CCHS led 7-0 with just over 7:00 left in the first quarter. Clarke County's defense stepped up and forced a punt. The Tiger kicker only got a 15- yard kick and the offense was again in business on a very short field. On the first play quarterback Tyler Walker ran a picture perfect option down to the 1-yard line. Following a penalty that moved the ball back to the 8- yard line, Bubba Frazier took the pitch and scored. Lambert again made the kick and the Bulldogs doubled their lead to 14-0 with 3:33 left in the first quarter. The Choctaw offense continued to be held at bay and in the second quarter was forced to punt. It didn't take long for CCHS to hit pay dirt as Walker dialed up Dwayne Owens with a 36- yard TD pass and catch. Lambert kicked the PAT, making it 21-0 with 7:48 to go in the first half. On the next Bulldog possession, Frazier broke free for a 35-yard score that was called back for a penalty. But three plays later Kimbrough found a crease and scored on a 10-yard run. Lambert added the pointafter touchdown, making it 28- 0 with 2:27 left in the second quarter. Choctaw fumbled on the ensuing possession and Kimbrough recovered for CCHS. The drive ended when Walker flipped an 8-yard scoring pass to Kimbrough. There was a bad snap on the conversion, leaving the score at 34-0 with :48 seconds to go before halftime. The final score in the contest came when Britt Chapman rambled 21 yards for a touchdown. Lambert kicked the PAT, making the final score 41-0. Chapman led all rushers with 67 yards on five carries and a TD. Frazier added 64 yards on five carries and a score. Kimbrough had 38 yards on four carries and two scores and caught a TD pass. Lambert added 40 yards on four totes. Walker was 6-of-11 passing for 102 yards and two scores. Defensivley Leevon Davis led the way with nine tackles. Frazier had seven tackles. Ottis Jackson added six stops. The win sets the table for this week's contest with the Jackson Aggies as they meet for the 91st time since 1917.
The Aggies have the overall series record of 54-29-7, but in the last 10 years the two schools are 5-5 against each other. Jackson had a stranglehold in the series from 1979 through 1992 in which they won all of the games, outscoring CCHS 405-71.
