The top ranked and undefeated Leroy Bears went into Georgiana in the middle of an all-night rainstorm to defeat the Panthers 27-13 on Friday night.

Clint Moseley led the Bear victory with 166 yards rushing and 132 passing on 13-18 attempts in the 2A Region1 win.

Both teams came out of the locker rooms slow on offense and stong on defense as neither team could punch anything across nor even near a goal line in the first quarter of play.

The first score of the contest came with 9:41 left in the first half of play when Moseley busted a 2-yard run up the middle for a touchdown. This was set up by big runs from Moseley and Aerick Davis.

Paul Gartman added the extra point to give Leroy the 7- 0 lead.

Georgiana would not hold off as they would score with 81 seconds left until halftime. Georgiana senior quarterback Andre Paige hooked up with Zebbie Mitchell for a 12-yard touchdown reception.

Paige also added the extra point to tie the game up at 7-7 just prior to halftime.

Grant Brown, with 7:13 remaining in the third quarter, intercepted a Paige pass and took it 30 yards for a touchdown.

Gartman added the Leroy extra point to give them the 14-7 lead in the middle of the third quarter. Moseley busted another touchdown run up the middle, this time it was from 10 yards out with 11:20 left in the fourth quarter of play.

Gartman once again added the extra point to give Leroy a 21-7 lead.

The Panthers would not go away quietly as Brian Pollack took a Moseley fumble back 39 yards for a touchdown run.

The two-point conversion failed as they cut Leroy's late lead down to 21-13 with 8:47 left in the contest.

However, the Bears put the game away with 1:10 left in the game when Moseley scampered for a 1-yard touchdown run following an 18-yard outburst down to the one-yard line. The score capped a 93- yard drive.

The snap was bad on the extra point so the conversion failed.

Leroy would take the lead and go on to win 27-13.

Leroy running back Michael Bracy helped pace the Bears to more than 300 yards on the ground with his 102-yard performance.

Aerick Davis hauled in six receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown.

Leroy (4-0, 3-0) will travel to Marengo County to take on the undefeated and top ranked 1A Sweet Water Bulldogs, who defeated Leroy last season 35- 6 in Leroy.
