Larry Boykin and the McIntosh Demons picked up huge region win Friday night at home against the Frisco City Whippets 22-6.

The Demons dominated the game on the ground thanks to big nights by Buck Thomas, Anthony Barnes and Joshua Nichols running the ball.

All three backs were right around the 100-yard mark for the game.

McIntosh got on the board first in the games opening drive when Michael Bolton hit Quentin Nichols on an 11- yard fade route for a touchdown.

The play capped off a 66- yard drive that took up half of the first quarter. The point after was blocked to keep the score at 6-0 in favor of the Demons with 5:10 remaining in the first quarter.

After the Demon defense forced a quick three-and-out, the offense took back over at their own 12-yard line.

On second down and 5 from the 17, Buck Thomas exploded around the right tackle for a 86-yard touchdown scamper to give the Demons a twotouchdown lead.

Cortez Thomas carried the ball into the end zone to convert the two-point conversion and give MHS a 14-0 lead with 10:47 to go in the first half.

Frico City scored on a 2- yard touchdown run with 3:21 to go in the half. The point after was no good to make the score 14-6 McIntosh at the half.

The score remained the same through the third quarter.

With 4:26 to go in the game, Cortez Thomas carried the ball 10 yards for what would have been a touchdown but he fumbled the ball in the end zone.

Luckily for the Demons, LaDarison Lewis recovered the ball in the end zone for the touchdown.

The score gave the Demons a 20-6 lead late in the fourth quarter.

The McIntosh defense added a safety in the closing minutes to give the Demons their 22-6 victory.

Now with a 1-1 overall record including a 1-0 mark in Region 1, the Demons will welcome in the Fruitdale Pirates Friday.

The Pirates are coming in off a 42-0 shellacking from the Millry Wildcats on Wildcat Hill.

If the Demons are able to pull off the victory, they would be 2-0 in the region and be in the driver's seat for the region championship.
